Evidence before opinion

Make the trade-off visible before you commit.

Make the decision visible, show what it depends on, and test the risky part first.

Try saying

“Here are the options and evidence. What should we learn before we commit?”

Name the choice

Write down the decision in plain English.

Compare evidence

See what supports or weakens each option.

Choose a test

Dependencies & Drift

What this is for

Protect a plan by making the relationships and changed assumptions behind delivery dates visible early.

When this helps

  • A blocked upstream item is discovered after downstream work starts.
  • Past target quarters and stale status updates look like current commitments.
  • Estimate changes are discussed in chat but never reflected in the roadmap story.

How it works

Each planning item can reference prerequisite item IDs inside the same workspace. Specky resolves those links, marks chains blocked when an upstream status is blocked or at risk, and reports missing references. Drift rules flag explainable conditions such as a target quarter in the past, a changed estimate, a blocked status, or no update for 14 days. These are prompts for a human check-in, not automatic verdicts.

Before you start

  • Planning items and their explicit prerequisites.
  • Current owner, status, target period, estimate, and update time where available.
  • The human context needed to confirm whether a flagged change is real risk.

What you should see

  • A workspace-scoped dependency map.
  • Blocked-chain and missing-reference warnings.
  • A list of stale, overdue, blocked, or estimate-drift signals.
  • A concrete owner conversation before changing a commitment.

Try it now

  1. Open Plan → Dependencies & drift.
  2. For each important item, add the work that must finish first and save the relationship.
  3. Review blocked chains and confirm whether the upstream status still applies.
  4. Inspect drift prompts for stale updates, past target periods, estimate changes, or blocked work.
  5. Ask the owner for context; do not move a date from the heuristic alone.
  6. Update the source item, capacity scenario, roadmap, and stakeholder message together when the risk is confirmed.

A real example

Enterprise export looks ready for Q4, but its permissions prerequisite is blocked and has not been updated in 18 days. Specky flags both facts. The PM confirms the owner needs another sprint, updates the scenario, and tells Sales before the date reaches a customer.

Your next move

Communicate the confirmed change with Stakeholder Roadmaps.
