Help Scout Integration
What it does
Import support conversations and customer language from Help Scout.
How your data reaches Specky
Specky pulls from Help Scout on a schedule. A sync runs when you open your workspace if the data has gone stale, and you can trigger one by hand from the integration card at any time.
What you'll need
- OAuth Access Token (Required) — A Help Scout OAuth access token with permission to read conversations.
- Mailbox ID (optional) (Optional) — Limit the sync to one inbox. Leave blank to read the accessible mailboxes.
Setup
Go to Settings → Integrations, find Help Scout, and click Connect.
Create an access token
- In Help Scout, create or open an OAuth application from Your Profile → My apps.
- Complete the OAuth flow or use a client-credentials token for an internal integration.
- Give the token permission to read conversations and copy the resulting access token.
- In Specky, open Settings → Integrations → Help Scout, paste the token, and optionally add a mailbox ID.
Data synced
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|
| Conversations and threads | Customer language, pain points, and feature requests |
| Status, tags, and mailbox | Triage, segmentation, and prioritization context |
| Customer metadata | Account and segment context on the signal |
Help Scout is a pull integration. Specky brings in recent conversations during sync; it does not send replies or modify your inbox.
After connecting
Everything Specky pulls in from Help Scout shows up in Discovery alongside your other sources, and feeds synthesis, clustering, and the AI chat's answers about your product. You don't have to do anything with it directly — it's there so the rest of Specky has something to reason over.
Disconnecting Help Scout removes both the connection and the signals it brought in.
Troubleshooting
- Connected, but nothing appears. Open the Help Scout card and run a sync by hand. If it errors, the card shows the reason.
- "Upgrade to connect". Your plan caps how many integrations you can connect at once, and a few providers are Scale-only. Settings → Usage shows where you stand.
- Credentials stopped working. Tokens expire and get revoked. Reconnect with a fresh one — your existing signals are kept.
See the Help Scout integration page for what it's for and the questions people usually ask first, or the Integrations Overview for how integrations work in general.
