A useful way through

Shortcut Integration is most useful when it helps you make one real decision.

Shortcut Integration

What it does

Import stories and team delivery context from Shortcut.

How your data reaches Specky

Specky pulls from Shortcut on a schedule. A sync runs when you open your workspace if the data has gone stale, and you can trigger one by hand from the integration card at any time.

What you'll need

  • API Token (Required) — Create one at Shortcut → Settings → Account → API Tokens.
  • Default Project ID (optional) (Optional) — Stories are created in this project. Leave blank to use the first accessible project.

Setup

Go to Settings → Integrations, find Shortcut, and click Connect.

Create an API token

  1. Open Shortcut API Tokens.
  2. Create a token and copy it once.
  3. In Specky, open Settings → Integrations → Shortcut and paste the token.

Data synced

DataUsed for
Stories, descriptions, type, estimate, labels, and workflow stateDelivery context and prioritization
Groups and project linksOwnership and roadmap context

Specky imports accessible Shortcut stories and can create or update stories from the Tickets view and Execution Bridge. It uses the configured project, or the first accessible project when none is supplied; workflow-state movement remains in Shortcut.

After connecting

Everything Specky pulls in from Shortcut shows up in Discovery alongside your other sources, and feeds synthesis, clustering, and the AI chat's answers about your product. You don't have to do anything with it directly — it's there so the rest of Specky has something to reason over.

Disconnecting Shortcut removes both the connection and the signals it brought in.

Troubleshooting

  • Connected, but nothing appears. Open the Shortcut card and run a sync by hand. If it errors, the card shows the reason.
  • "Upgrade to connect". Your plan caps how many integrations you can connect at once, and a few providers are Scale-only. Settings → Usage shows where you stand.
  • Credentials stopped working. Tokens expire and get revoked. Reconnect with a fresh one — your existing signals are kept.

See the Shortcut integration page for what it's for and the questions people usually ask first, or the Integrations Overview for how integrations work in general.
